Business Development Analyst

You are
The Business Development (BD) Analyst works closely with and provides support across various business entity leadership.  You will work with the Business Development and Proposal teams by researching and qualifying business opportunities to include federal Requests for Proposals, Requests for Information, Sources Sought, and Task Order requests. Requirements for this role will include monitoring business development avenues of information; researching contracts, customers, and companies; providing support and analyses; and supporting marketing activities.

How you will make an impact
This includes identifying and researching market opportunities; evaluating and updating LMG’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to include inputting data, creating custom workflows, reports, and dashboards; supporting market and competitive assessments; providing critical business market research and analysis of data; supporting networking activities and events; and tracking BD pipeline metrics. This position supports the  team through all stages of the business development lifecycle from business strategy and proposal delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Supports analysis and research for specific opportunities, markets trends, and ad hoc requests
  • Identifies, researches, and evaluates new business opportunities using tools such as GovWin IQ, SAM.GOV, FPDS, Government Agency Websites, and other online tools.
  • Assists with drafting, editing and filing small business and Government agency submissions
  • Provides logistical support for customer development events, such as seminars and webinars.
  • Develops competitor analysis documentation working with capture managers.
  • Using basic understanding of the capture process, assists the team on Federal opportunity development by investigating and analyzing customer needs and requirements as directed.
  • Assists with coordination of customer alerts, blogs, BD newsletter updates and assists with the preparation of marketing collateral, and customer briefings/presentations
  • Provides writing support for RFI, sources sought and white paper development
  • Supports opportunity analysis within GovWin and other identified federal business opportunity resources and systems.
  • Supports pipeline development by helping to identify and stay abreast of qualified opportunities and provides analysis of new opportunities in support of team members.
  • Maintains and tracks database information including use of Salesforce. Responsible for running reports and analysis of Salesforce for teams
  • Supports various gate reviews to include scheduling, supporting presentation development, capture support, coordination of contracts documents, and research assistance.
  • Maintains corporate intelligence on potential customers, teaming partners, and competitors
  • Supports and provides relevant information for meetings with government personnel to establish and maintain relationships
  • Maintains BD SharePoint site and repository of business development information.
  • Inputs, maintains, and tracks business data within the CRM, managing system data and features at an Administrator level.
  • Collaborates with individuals at all levels, including senior leadership, providing input to reports and other deliverables.
Education and Experience
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  •  4 or more years of experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or other complimentary discipline is preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with MS Office suite and ability to create, format, and manipulate Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and develop PowerPoint presentations and SharePoint
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Team Player capable of working within a collaborative environment.
  • Administrative work ability, preferably in a sales or marketing environment, or a combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the functions of the job
  • Self-starter who exhibits attention to detail and expert organization skills.

Competencies
  • Basic understanding of the capture process
  • Experience with U.S. Federal Sector Business Development is preferred
  • Familiarity with necessary defense contracting tools, including but not limited to: GovWin IQ, Bloomberg, BETA SAM.GOV, FPDS, and similar experience is a plus 
  • Knowledge of government solicitation documents, including standard RFP structure
  • Excellent problem solving, organization and time management skills
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to organize and present ideas clearly and logically.
  • Analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage and prioritize time between regular duties, ad hoc requests, and higher-level corporate priorities/initiatives
  • Business Travel for conferences and customer meetings, as needed up to 15% is expected.
  • Must have a professional, upbeat attitude and have outstanding customer service aptitude
  • The ability to stay calm under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Provide additional administrative support to BD leadership as required.
Supervisory Responsibility
None required for this position.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Must be able to set up trade show booth materials and responsible for shipping to various locations when necessary
  • Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Expresses or exchanges ideas by means of the spoken word.  Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.
  • Frequently moves some equipment up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to work indoor conditions 90% of the time.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position that will require a minimum of 40 hours per week.  Hours of work can be set by the individual; however, they should fall within the core hours of 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday.  Attendance at meetings or other events may necessitate a change in standard hours.

Travel
Travel is expected to be less than 15% of the time for this position.
